MARTIN SHIELDS

Martin began coaching at MWGC in 2005, and in 2009 joined the club in a full time capacity as the Head Mens Coach.

In 2010, Martin became the General Manager and Head of Coaching at Manly, and was instrumental in bringing some of the best coaches to the club. He also joined the Board from 2011, which he sat on for 9 years.

The MAG program, grew to become one of the strongest in the country, winning the Australian National Clubs Titles on many occasions, as well as producing MAG National Champions, with some of them going on to represent Australia at international events.

During his time, the club grew to a capacity of more than 2500 members and won the NSW overall gymnastics club of the year on two occasions.

Martin left MWGC in July 2020 and is still heavily involved in gymnastics.
